WHAT IS MICHAELMAS?

It is a fall tradition celebrating the end of the harvest.

Holiday activities were often held on September 29th, following the equinox,

marking the official end of the farming and accounting year.

It was a time for CHANGE… finding new work as the new farm cycle began,

entering new leases, and paying annual dues.

WHO IS ST. MICHAEL?

St. Michael, the Archangel, known in medieval times for his strength and courage, is the angel credited with casting Lucifer out of paradise and conveying souls off to the place of judgment, therefore he became known as the patron saint of trades that use weighing scales.

HOW IS CHRIST CHURCH CELEBRATING MICHAELMAS?

We will share food and drink while members and friends of the parish

can learn more about our many church programs.

Come and celebrate the spirit of St. Michael by finding new opportunities to be involved in our church community!
